FaceDropt: Schedule Uploading Of Photos From Android To Private Facebook Albums

In the past few months, we have seen multiple ways to instantly and automatically upload photos from Android to custom Facebook albums. Be it via the Photo Syncing  feature of the official Facebook Android app, or through several third-party offerings, such as Photo Saver and PhotoUp, there are now various effective and reliable methods available to Android users to have their precious photos automatically backed up to private Facebook albums. However, as it currently stands, the Photo Syncing feature is currently available to just a handful of devices, and more importantly, none of the aforementioned solutions currently support scheduled backup of photos. Enter FaceDropt, a simple and free Android app that fills said void in a promising manner. If you’re looking for a photo backup solution that can automatically push all photos captured during a set time-frame, to a user-specified Facebook album, then this app has you covered. Once activated, the app keeps running in the background, automatically uploading any images captured during the defined time. The app comes in handy in situations where you want to the instant photo upload feature to be enabled for a specific duration only, instead of letting it persistently and needlessly run in the background, hogging precious system resources.
FaceDropt allows working with one album at a time, and lets you readjust the schedule for the uploading task. Any album created by the app is private in nature, and can be accessed by the owner only.
Using the app is as simple as it gets. All you need to do is launch the app, authorize it access to your Facebook account, hit the Configure Album button, fill in the required details about the event title and time, and you’re good to go. Now, as you keep snapping images, they keep displaying on the app’s home screen on grid, while at the same time, being uploaded to the selected Facebook album. Through notification bar alerts, you can monitor the overall backup progress. Needless to say, the app keeps constantly running in the background till the scheduled upload time expires, or the task is cancelled altogether by the user. As soon as a new task is defined, the app is at your service again, monitoring and uploading any new photos that you capture within the set timeframe.
We tested FaceDropt on a couple of devices. While it refused to work properly on Galaxy Nexus (running Android 4.1.1), there were no such issues with the app uploading our photos from HTC Desire Z (running Android 4.1). Not only did it manage to create the custom album on my Facebook Photos, but also uploaded all the images successfully.
FaceDropt is available in the Google Play Store as an ad-supported free app; however, through in-app purchasing, you can get rid of all the ads once and for all.

Best Clipboard Manager for Windows 7 & Windows 8

I have been looking for a good clipboard manager program for years and had gotten so sick of trying them out and not being satisfied, that I finally gave up and haven’t used on in years. Until today! While browsing some freeware site, I ran across a clipboard manager called Shapeshifter that works on Windows and Windows 8.

I have to say it’s pretty awesome. It is easily the nicest looking, simplest and most stable clipboard manager program I have ever used. You can download Shapeshifter from here:

It’s only 2.5 MB and takes up a whopping 6 MB of memory on my Windows 8 system. Once you install it, you’ll get a few prompts to configure the program:

First, you have to choose your mode. I would go ahead and choose Mixed mode, which basically is a combo of Integrated mode and External mode. Basically, you can manage the clipboard using CTRL + V or using the taskbar icon in Windows 7 and Windows 8.

The Settings dialog will pop up and here you can pretty much leave everything as is unless you want to change the color of the border that appears around the window for selected items. The default was fine for me. Now just start copying things like you normally would with CTRL + C. Copy files, images, songs, documents, etc. When you press and hold CTRL + V, you’ll see this awesome dialog pop up below. Just use the arrow keys to select what you want to be pasted.

When you start copying things, you’ll also notice that the Shapeshifter icon shows up in the taskbar. Just hover over it and it will display an Aero-like theme for the items on the clipboard. You can then just click on the item you want to copy to the main clipboard and you’re done. When you press CTRL + V without holding it down, it will simply paste whatever you had selected.

Very nice! The program looks absolutely great and makes using the clipboard fun again! The fact that it works with Windows 8 is also a great benefit since there simply aren’t that many clipboard managers for Windows 8 yet. This program is updated constantly and therefore runs like a champ. These programmers are really awesome! Enjoy!

View Photos from Over 11 Social Networks in One App on Android

A picture is worth a thousand words  was just a saying to me that I had been hearing since childhood, but only afterInstagram was launched on Android, I got to know its true meaning. After Instagram arrived on Android I have actually started using my phone’s camera more frequently than before and I don’t think I am the only one to notice this change.
Many people are liking the new trend of sharing photos on social media to share their daily life events using beautiful photos. The change is not only in posting photos but also in following updates from different users. As an Instagram and Facebook user I try to view all the photos posted on my Android to like and comment on the ones that deserve appreciation. But then, photos are just not limited to Facebook and Instagram. People who used to use Flickr and Picasa are still using it to post updates.

Pictarine for Android

Now the thing is, following all the updates on the mobile using different dedicated apps is not at all feasible. Today we will talk about an amazing Android app called Pictarine that will make the task feasible by bringing photos from up to 11 different photo sharing services under the same roof…. and that’s not all. You can like and comment on all the photos right from this app (provided the other apps can grant this one the required permissions).
add accountauthenticate
After you install the app on your device, you will be asked to log in using either your Facebook or Google account. The app requires direct account authentication but while allowing the app, just make sure you don’t provide any unnecessary permission. After you add an account, the app will take you to the account management page wherein you can edit additional accounts you would like to view under the same roof.  Some of the important services you can add are Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, 500px, Live etc.
accountsphoto feeds
After adding the account you can view all the new photos in the app page. Photos from all the networks will be arranged one after another and you can open an image to like  and comment on it. All the changes made will be updated to its servers in real-time.
comments and likes
The app also provides a feature or two for the interest of the users. A person can block photos from different users from different networks from appearing on his timeline. You can also save favorite photos from your timeline and check them offline. Finally, don’t forget to check out theSurprise Me section to view random photos from different services.
add photo to playlist

I have been looking for such an app for long and Pictarine has helped me to a great extent. Using the app one could easily view photos of different users from several social streams. However, I am also looking for an app which could help me the other way round. I am looking for a way to post my device photos to all the services at once. If you know of any such app, don’t forget to share it.

Real Astronomy with Small Telescopes: Step-by-Step Activities for Discovery

This book is about using an 80mm refractor / 90mm Maksutov (such as a Helios 80 or Meade ETX90) as more than a "quick look" instrument, but rather something capable of use as an introduction to scientific observations. Emphasis is on measurement and discovery activities rather than on casual observing. There are two objectives to these activities: to re-enact the process of discovery and to provide amateur observers with the knowledge and skill that will help them make genuine contributions to the field of astronomy.
It is often said that users of small telescopes can conduct worthwhile scientific work, but ‘how' is seldom explained except in the context of observations carried out by the most advanced amateur astronomers. This book provides the necessary introduction - derived from the author's many year of experience in teaching the subject - that will be the starting point for serious work.

imPcRemote Professional: An Easy VNC-based Remote Desktop Sharing Utility

When it comes to providing remote desktop assistance to your friends, clienteles and other far-off associates, TeamViewer surely gives an easy and quick solution. VNC (Virtual Network Computing) software, such as TightVNC and the previously covered RealVNC, both of which are cross-platform tools, have also fostered simple solutions for remote desktop sharing. imPCRemote Professional is yet another utility that helps users access and control remote systems. Apart from the obvious features of a RFB (remote framebuffer) VNC application, it lets you transfer files, chat with connected system users, send custom keys and actions etc. The application provides both client and server (Manager) applications, and the Windows variant has separate installation packages for both (Mac OS X version contains admin and client apps in a single package).
To establish the remote connection, download and install the Manager application on the main machine. Next up, you need to register an account with imPCRemote server. You can click New User button to perform a 3-step sign up procedure. The registration process requires you to specify your email, as well as custom password and computer name.
Registration 13
Once done, enter the newly created User name and Password in the login window and click the Loginbutton.
Now that you have successfully created the user account, the next step would be to download and install a tray program (client) on the remote machine. Upon starting the tray program, click Computer Registration and afterwards, enter the same user details that you used during the sign-up process.
imPcRemote Professional_Client Registration
After proper configuration of the Manager and Tray programs on both local and remote machines, respectively, imPCRemote Manager will successfully scan and display the established connection underComputers section. You are also allowed to add the connected PC(s) to Favorites and Groups sections. To start the sharing session, select your desired machine from the list and click View PC button at the top right corner.
imPcRemote Manager
This in turn will open the viewer interface in a separate window, letting you take control of the remote machine. You can not only view the complete desktop, but also send various actions via the Toolbar at the top. The toolbar houses various navigation controls and actions, like Send, Toggle Fullscreen, Show connection options, refresh, send custom key, toggle remote input and so on.
usman-javaid-pc ( ) --- Ultr@VNC Viewer SecureVNC Plugin-v1.0.2.0 by Adam D. Walling
Should you need to, you can also remotely transfer files between the connected machines. Click Open File Transfer on the toolbar to open the File Transfer window. This window provides a two pane view of the Admin and Client machines, and all you need is to perform a few basic steps to send and receive files.
file transfer
The Toolbar on the viewer interface also enables you to open Connection Options window to configure various application specific settings. For instance, Format and Encoding section contains various parameters that determine the quality of feed. In addition, you can toggle a few Mouse and Keyboardoptions, as well as settings related to the Display.
Connection Options...
Overall, imPCRemote Professional isn’t the very feature-rich VNC applications around – RealVNC and TightVNC simply offer more options and better performance – but it’s a nice freeware solution to easily achieve remote computer access. It works on Windows and Mac OS X.

Use Multiple Google Accounts in Chrome Web Browser

I have always found it annoying having to use multiple browsers to sign into several Google accounts. I’ve also found it annoying that I had to install add-ons and extensions in browsers like Firefox to get it to work properly.
Personally, I like to use Google Chrome and none of the other browsers. In every other browser, you have to install some kind of add-on or extension to sign into multiple Google accounts in the same browser. Luckily, with recent versions of Google Chrome, this is now a built in feature!
I have no idea when it was released, but I just found it while playing around in the settings for Chrome. In this article, I’ll walk you through the steps to set it up and show you how it works.

Using Chrome with Multiple Users

To get started, click on the Wrench icon and then click on Settings.
chrome settings
Now click on Add new user at the bottom under Users.
Chrome users
It’ll pop up a new instance of Google Chrome and ask you to sign in:
Welcome to chrome
Once you enter your email and password, you’ll see it says you are now signed into Chrome. You’ll also notice another big change: a big icon sitting at the top right of your browser window:
chrome users icon
When you click on it, you can see the list of users. Now in Chrome on PC, the icon shows up at the far left instead of the far right. When you click on the icon, you’ll see a list of users. By default, if you haven’t customized anything, it’ll call the original user First user and it’ll just create a random name for the second user, Sneaky or AgentX or some other random name.
If you go back to Settings in Chrome, click on the (Current) user and then click on the Edit button.
edit chrome user
Now you can give the user a more practical name and also choose a different icon from their small selection.
customize chrome user
In order to edit the other user, you have to switch to that user using the icon at the top of the browser window. Then go to Settings and then click Edit again. Here are my two users setup after the customizations:
new user
switch chrome user
It works great and you can sign into multiple Google accounts at the same time. The only downside currently that I see is that it opens the new user in a new Chrome window. It would be nice if they could somehow get it to work so that you could open a different user account in a separate tab in the same window! But other than that, it’s way easier than installing add-ons and logging in multiple times, etc, etc. Enjoy!

5 Reasons To Use Fancy Instead Of Pinterest

Since the Pinterest explosion, which has admittedly recently died down a little, there have been all sorts of clones popping up left and right catering to niche audiences, or even just unabashedly copying the social networking site. One social network that has already earned itself comparisons to Pinterest is Fancy, by allowing users to save and share photos on boards, with the difference of calling them ‘lists’ instead of ‘boards.’

Fancy has a lot of similarities to Pinterest, the bursting-at-the-seams social network which is driving a lot of traffic around the Web, but seems to have overtaken the giant on a few key features. Most notably, Fancy has quickly found a way to monetize its site, unlike Pinterest’s one or two attempts that didn’t go down very well with its audience – and that method of monetization is actually a huge advantage for its users.
Fancy Has Better Privacy Settings

While Pinterest does allow you to remove your Pinterest profile from search engines, there’s no way to actually lock down your profile in private mode the way you can with just about any social network you can think of. While the nature of Pinterest leans to a more public experience, there are some instances where you might want to keep your profile private – such as putting together a list of furniture for each room of your house if you’re moving into a new home.

With Fancy, under settings you can opt to keep your profile private, with your activity viewable only to your followers. Who you follow and who follows you will also be hidden from the public eye.

Fancy’s Users Are More Accurate With Categories

While you will find the occasional item incorrectly categorized on Fancy, it’s certainly not as common a problem as it is on Pinterest. This may be down to the fact that Fancy simply has less users than Pinterest, but it’s certainly a significant difference nonetheless.

We will admit that the Fancy ‘Architecture’ category has morphed into architecture and home decor, as it has on Pinterest, where for the vast majority of netizens, there seems to be a fine line between the two categories.
You Can Actually Buy Things Directly On Fancy

Unlike Pinterest, Fancy actually allows you to sell and buy items on the site. If you want to sell your items through Fancy, it’s as easy as sending in a request to do so. And if you’re on the lookout for cool and unique buys, Fancy gives you the chance to add items to your Fancy cart, and checkout through the site. There’s already a wide variety of brands available through Fancy’s e-commerce model.

The only drawback to this feature is the fact that a lot of brands have been added to Fancy that you can’t necessarily buy directly through the site. That said, the item is still simply a click of the button away. Items for sale that aren’t available to order through Fancy are accompanied by a link letting you know where you have to go to make the buy.
Investors Are Keeping An Eye On Fancy

There has already been at least one success story of a designer landing a $250,000 dealthrough the social network. Selling his item, a magnetic light switch cover, not only did Jake Frey receive hundreds of purchases in the first few days, he also managed to attract the attention of an investor to mass produce his handy little invention.

Sure not everyone is going to land a $250,000 deal through Fancy, but it’s still nice to know that someone is looking. The fact that it also gives you access to an audience that might have similar taste as you doesn’t hurt, making it just that little bit easier to market and sell your products.
You Can Earn Deals On Fancy

If you’re on the other side, looking for cool items to buy on Fancy, you’ll be happy to know that you can also find some pretty cool deals on the site. There is some pretty expensive stuff available for sale on Fancy, like this awesome Rolleiflex, going for a hefty $5,400, but you can also unlock a bunch of deals from Fancy, including one from ThinkGeek.

So not only is Fancy making it easy for you to find the coolest products available online, it’s also making it easier for you to buy them for a little less.
